We spied the grape pickers! Mid of October, we finished the harvesting period at the estate Ch.W. Bernhard. Hartmut and Justus, as well as Petra and their team were absolutelty contented. The grape pickers diligently selected the yield according to ripeness and variety of the grape, just by using hands and cissors. The short video shows them at work in the vinyard Hackenheimer Kirchberg. Have a look at the wine harvesting with a bird’s eye view and join us in anticipating the outstanding 2022er wines!
2022. Open Door Event at the Winery. (22.08.2022)
It is a long years tradition: the first weekend of August of every second year is strictly reserved for you.
Traditionally we show cellars, stocks, vineyards, and, as the highlight of the event we present the most recent vintage.
So, three weeks ago we had a fantastic weekend with you. You enjoyed the “private” atmosphere and had quite some detailed insights in the life at the winery and in the vinyards and cellars. No need to mention, that the 2021 wines presented by Hartmut, Petra and Justus Bernhard after an extraordinary delicious dinner were the highlight of it all. We are looking forward to the next event in 2024.

Happy Easter ! (02.04.2022)
Spring time in the winery should be all time the same. This year however it is different:
- The covid virus ha affected some of our staff, we had no major problems and all feel well again.
- A war in the heart of Europe is taking our breath. WE think of the Ukrainian people and hope that peace will come back soon.
- Only the vinyards look as they always look in spring time:
– The almond tree at Frei-Laubersheimer Fels is in full blossom.
– Our workers are happy to be sent out into the fresh air. - Some of the team however stay back in the cellars where they take care of the 2021 vintage. They prepare bottling and are disgorging the sparkling. Business as usual.
It is time to tell you that.
the 2020 vintage has reached its optimum ripeness.
These are vivid and crispy wines well balanced with a beautiful, sustainable finesse.
Bernhard wines come from a single source: our vinyards and our cellars. We guarantee high quality and we stand for a sustainable pleasure of our wines. We stand for short delivery paths and are able to provide outstanding quality at a remarkable price level.

BJØRN – the new Cuvée. (22.09.2021)
Hey friends,
this is Justus Bernhard. You have my new cuvée 2020 in your glass. This is is great!
What did me inspire to make this wine?
“The perfect cuvée!” – this is what I was dreaming of since quite a moment. When back in spring 2021 we were tasting the young wines in the cellar with my father Hartmut, mainly three wines attracted my attention. These grape varieties should become the base for my perfect cuvée. It did not take long time to get Hartmut’s okay, and I started composing this cuvée.
The labels of my wines show a bear, the symbol for our family name Bernhard, for strength and endurance. So it was somehow logical to call the perfect cuvée BJØRN. I love the North of Europe where bears are called “björn”.
Now you would like to now which grapes I have chosen? I won’t tell you – I am sure the BERNHARD wine connoisseurs will recongnize them easily.
Taste BJØRN – you will definitely enjoy it! I am looking forward to get your feedback on the perfect cuvée.

in these days, our regular customers will find in their mail box the updated offering and the Bernhard spring newsletter.
We tell you more about the vintage 2019 that has reached the optimum maturity. You can now fully enjoy these well-balanced wines that enchant the palate with crisp acidity combined with longlasting, fruity flavors.
Last but not least, we are right now about bottling the latest vintage, and are especially proud of the 2020 dry Scheurebe (# 5J20), Justus’es no. 4. (German version of newsletter).
Covid-19… and you run out of wine? (22.01.2021)
Three times a year, we personally supply our customers in Germany, Belgium and in the Netherlands. But how do we handle it in these special times?
We plan to hopefully being able to do personal delivery in upcoming April. In the meantime we will fulfill your orders with the delivery service “dpd”, they are our delivery partner for many years now. So your wine will reach you quickly and safe at your place.
